about us (sort of)

We'd rather talk about the sites than about ourselves.

Honestly? Our story isn't that interesting. We used to build slow WordPress sites that broke a lot. Then we found a better way — and this page is about what that means for your site.

the honest bit

We used to be the problem. Bloated. Slow. WordPress.

For years — like most agencies in Australia — we built on WordPress. It was the default. You'd stack a theme, thirty-odd plugins, a page builder, and a caching tool on top to make it feel quick. It never really felt quick.

Our clients' sites would load in three, sometimes four seconds. PageSpeed scores in the thirties. Plugins would break after an update. Someone would install a dodgy one and a hacker would get in. We'd patch it, bill them, and pretend it was normal.

our lightbulb moment

Then we found a better tool.

In 2023 we rebuilt everything on Astro — a static-first framework most Australian agencies still haven't picked up. Instead of a database doing sums every time a customer loads your homepage, we pre-build the whole site as plain HTML. Sounds boring. Changes everything.

01

Built once, served forever.

Your site gets compiled to plain HTML on day seven. Every visit after that is a file read — no database, no PHP, no sums to do. That's where the speed comes from, and it doesn't go away.

02

Nothing to hack, nothing to update.

No admin login. No database to inject. No plugin with a 2019 vulnerability. The attack surface of a plain HTML site is effectively zero — which is why we stopped losing weekends to "the site's been hacked" emails.

03

Delivered from 300+ cities.

The same HTML lives on a global edge network. A customer in Fremantle hits a Perth server. A cousin in Singapore hits Singapore's. No origin round-trip, no buffering, no matter where they are.

what it means for you

Faster sites. Higher rankings. More calls. Fewer support requests.

under the hood

What happens when someone visits your site?

The difference isn't abstract. Here's the exact path every visitor's click travels, on a typical WordPress site versus one built in Astro.

Slow and fragile a lot can go wrong.

  1. 1. Someone clicks your link

Their browser asks for your page.

  2. 2. Your site has to wake up

The server boots from scratch — every time.

  3. 3. Digs up your content

Looks up every word and image in storage.

  4. 4. Runs 30+ plugins

Any one of them can slow things down or break.

  5. 5. Builds the page

Stitches all the pieces together, fresh.

  6. 6. Finally loads on their screen

Only now does your visitor see anything.

~3.2 seconds of waiting.

If a plugin hiccups, the whole thing breaks.

Instant and reliable nothing to break.

  1. 1. Someone clicks your link

Their browser asks for your page.

  2. 2. The finished page is already waiting nearby

Built once — copies live in 300+ cities worldwide.

  3. 3. Appears on their screen

Instantly. No sums, no lookups, no waiting.

~0.6 seconds. Done.

No database, no plugins, nothing in between.

who else uses Astro

You're in GREAT company

Astro powers sites at Google, Microsoft, Porsche and The Guardian — among a lot of others. We use the exact same stack every day, just sized for a Perth bakery or a Freo electrician instead of a Fortune 500.
